So I had already written all of this on phone, but it decided to be stupid and delete it all :(
So over the years, I have been trying to find the perfect pair of pointe shoes with trial and error. I am still searching! It is so hard to find perfect pointe shoes! Here's a review on a few I've worn before...
Keep in mind all shoes are in the hardest shank available.
Sansha Etudes: These had an extremely hard shank. They lasted me six months!!! The shank had multiple layers of bamboo. These shoes were pretty nice, the only problem was the vamp. It was too short for me and sometimes my toes would pop out :)
Grishko Miracles: These pointe shoes were not fitted very well. The box was really long and boxy, it was also VERY loud. The shank was three quarter and very hard. I felt that the more I wore them, the harder it was to get over the box of the shoe.
Pietra gala and Merlet Pulsion: These were very odd shoes. They were an ugly tanish color and had a very tapered box. They gave me SOO many blisters! I don't even know why I bought them! The Pulsions had a very soft shank, they lasted two classes :( I only recommend these shoes to people with very tapered toes and low arches.
Bloch Aspiration: These were my favorite shoes for a long time. They were very comfortable, especially the box. The box was very square and had a very flat platform. The only issue I had with these shoes was the shank. The shank would break in very low. If you get these shoes, I would suggest three-quartering them.
Gaynor Minden: I currently still wear these shoes. They are moderately comfortable and require minimum break-in time. Gaynors are easy to turn in and last about 3-6 weeks for me!!! The only annoying thing is the metetarsal area is hard to roll through and they are so damn expensive!
Sansha Recitals: These shoes had a very very very long vamp. They were not fitted well...oops. The recitals were very narrow and caused my bunions to hurt. I don't really have any more comments to make on these shoes, I only wore them like twice.
Repetto La Carlotta: These shoes were so beautiful. They had such a beautiful satin color and they were three quarter shank! La Carlotta only lasted me one class. The shank and box were extremely soft. If Repetto ever decides to make these harder, I will definitely try them again.
I feel like I try weird shoes that no one has ever heard of before... Also, where I live, the dance store has only one fitter. She's not very good. She likes to recommend Bloch European balance and Gaynor Minden to everybody. She also does not really care about the dancers opinion. There is a very limited choice available. I think I would have spent a lot less money on pointe shoes if there was a proper shoe fitter... Oh well.
Well I realize I go through many pairs of pointe shoes each year, and I would like to thank my parents for supporting me!
